Ionic Heidelberg Socli Natural Hydraulic
Lime NHL 2

**Formerly branded in Hanson and Ionic NHL 2 bags**

High quality Heidelberg Socli Natural Hydraulic Lime (NHL) is produced from the
natural argillaceous limestone deposits in the quarries at the Izaourt and
Sauveterre Works of SOCLI in the South of France. The Quality Control at the
works is backed by the extensive central Calcia Research and Development
facilities, ensuring a high degree of consistency in performance and colour.
Heidelberg Socli Lime NHL 2 is what is classed as a feebly hydraulic binder and is
the weakest in strength of the three classifications of NHL. Using NHL 2 ensures
a highly breathable mortar and plaster making it ideal for internal plaster,
construction and repointing work. Allows for very fine finishes making it the
ideal binder for trowel finishing.
Heidelberg Socli NHL 2 is ideal for feeble substrates, it has outstanding
workability and great water retention. This Hydraulic Lime will improve plasticity,
create high cohesion and result in low shrinkage. Hydraulic lime NHL also has
the advantage of being resistant to sulphates.

Hydraulic lime is ideal for use with restoration projects of older buildings,
traditional, period homes and the conservation of heritage and grade 2 listed
buildings.
The lower strength of natural hydraulic lime mortar compared with Portland
cement based mortars allows mixes to be produced which complement the
lower strengths of many natural stone and soft brick applications whilst
improving plasticity and retaining a high level of cohesion with low shrinkage.
