Hemp Bales Medium and Fine Grain

Hemp shiv is cleaned and cut ready for use in hemp lime plaster. Our hemp can be mixed with hydraulic lime or quicklime to create a lime plaster that has superior inuslating properties over standard render. In these mixes hemp proves to be a highly efficent thermal conductor, a strong insulator against noise and still keeps the plaster breathable and vapour permeable. It is also light weight and dosen't add unwanted bulk to the wall, whilst still retaining its strenght and also being crack resistant.

Our coarse hemp shiv is approx 20mm in size and the Fine shive is approximatley 3mm. Mixes that have had hemp added to them will only last for 2 - 3 weeks as the hemp will start to perish over longer periods of time unless it has been appplied.
