Saint-Astier® NHL 3.5 Natural Hydraulic Lime 25Kg Bag

Saint-Astier® NHL 3.5 is a 100% Natural Hydraulic Lime and is the middle strength of the three classifications for NHL. Available in a 25kg bag.

NHL 3.5 offers the middle strength of the three classifications for NHL and is the most popular. However, we typically advise using Saint-Astier® NHL2 or weaker to repair traditionally constructed buildings, which is often more appropriate in technical performance for weathered or softer substrates. However, NHL 3.5 is a viable option for those requiring additional strength in a more exposed location whilst maintaining breathability.

  • White in colour
  • Contains no additives
  • 100% pure Natural Hydraulic Lime
  • Respects the colour of the local sands
  • Resistant to sulphates

Suitable for pointing, rendering, limecrete, grouting, capping, masonry construction and ashlar. Before starting, always try on a small test area.

Mix with clean and well-graded sand at a mix ratio from 1:1.5 to 1:3, depending on the application, background conditions, size of the joint or the fineness of the sand. View our range of sands for lime pointing, rendering and plastering.

Do not use in temperatures below 5°C or above 30°C. Dampen substrates the day before and prior to application, allowing the surface water to be reabsorbed. Avoid rapid drying due to high temperatures, direct sunlight or strong winds by covering and curing with a light water mist as necessary.

We always advise following best practices for curing and protecting fresh lime mortars and renders from direct sunlight and wind using hessian sheeting, which acts as a barrier between the freshly applied lime and the environment.
