Ladies Day Pointing, Plastering & Prosecco Course

Ladies Day Pointing, Plastering & Prosecco Course

In celebration of International Women's Day, our recent Ladies' Pointing, Plastering, and Prosecco course at Womersley's was a fantastic success. We were delighted to bring together a brilliant group of women for a day of hands-on learning and fun.

Throughout the day, participants were guided through the fundamentals of working with lime-based materials. The course included practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions covering:

- Understanding different lime mortars, plasters, and renders
- Surface preparation essentials
- Mixing materials correctly
- Pointing techniques
- Applying mortar to joints
- Harling methods
- Basecoat and finishing coat application
- Insulating render and plaster techniques
- Proper curing methods

From the moment the ladies arrived, the energy was amazing. Many had never worked with lime mortar or plaster before, yet within minutes they were mixing, applying, smoothing, and laughing their way through the learning curve.

What made the day so empowering wasn't just the techniques—though everyone quickly became proficient at pointing and plastering—it was the atmosphere. It was wonderful to see a room full of women cheering each other on, swapping tips, and discovering their own capabilities.

No Ladies' Day would be complete without a glass of bubbly and some treats. Between sessions, everyone gathered for a spread of fresh sandwiches, pastries, cakes, and prosecco—because learning is always better with good food and even better company.

Reviews

The Pointing, Plastering and Prosecco course has given me so much confidence to tackle my house renovations myself. We learnt so many techniques in a short space of time, all delivered clearly and concisely. Ian and Suzie were incredibly helpful and answered all our renovation queries. Thank you for a great day! ~ Helen Sims

I can’t recommend the Womersley’s Pointing and Plaster course ( you can add Prosecco or not depending on your preference). enough. Not only was it a great way to get hands on learning, the class was fun and welcoming. Choosing the right type of lime plaster for the different surfaces has felt overwhelming but by the end of the day it was much clearer. Even better to be able to drive home with everything I needed to get my various projects completed and the knowledge on what to do. Thanks Ian and Susie! It was a great day and worth the 41/2 hour drive each way! ~ Susan Fletcher

Brilliant one-day course. It was really informative, hands-on, and great fun. I learned a lot about plastering and pointing, but just as valuable was meeting other women who want to renovate older homes in a sympathetic way. The instructor and organiser were both lovely, knowledgeable, and made the whole day feel welcoming and supportive. I came away much more confident and inspired to tackle my own renovation. Highly recommend. ????~ Lucy
